Even most 1 and 2 star/key hotels and apartments in Spain do have air-conditioning. You'll be glad of Air-conditioning in peak summer hot months in both the Spanish resorts and cities.
For Spanish city breaks and skiing holidays Spain in the winter season, central heating in accommodation is often standard, but it's worth checking again on accommodation graded below 3 stars/keys.
Airi conditioning may not be something you immediately think of as essential when booking, however you'll be glad of it when you're in your Barcelona Apartment or Costa del Sol or Costa Brava Hotel from June to September! With temperatures pushing up into the 30s during these peak summer months in the Costa del Sol and even higher in central Spanish capital Madrid, air-conditioning is an essential comfort.
Double check when booking self catering apartments as these sometimes don't have air conditioning, and may instead just have a ceiling fan or nothing at all. During the summer months the mosquitos are rather prevalent, so having and airconditioned room or apartment where you can shut your windows, keep the mosquitos out and still be nice and cool is certainly a bonus! Nights are hot hot hot in the peak summer months - you're certainly more sure to get a better nights sleep if you have air conditioning! It's an issue always worth checking when booking.
