Costa Blanca Tourism Guide - Cheap Flights Alicante

Alicante Airport (El Altet) sits just 9km (nearly 6 miles) to the south west of Alicante centre. Transfers to Alicante city centre from the airport take only around 20 minutes by taxi.

Alicante Airport is the main airport server for the Costa Blanca resorts of Benidorm, Calpe and Denia. The La Manga area further south tends to be served by Murcia Airport (San Javier), although cheap flights to Alicante and onto La Manga are an option. Likewise cheap flights to Valencia Airport and transfer south into Gandia, Oliva and Denia are also feasible.

Cheap Flights to Alicante Airport (El Altet) Costa Blanca

Alicante Airport, just a short 9km South West of Alicante centre, serves the Costa Blanca resort coast. A busy Spanish Airport, it's tidy and small with one large terminal.

Passengers passing through Alicante Airport have been increasing year on year. In 2006 Alicante Airport handled 8,893,720 passengers - a huge number with most passengers being international. A long list of airlines fly here from most of the UK Airports. Budget airlines EasyJet, BMI and Jet2 all fly to Alicante. For the best flight deals from your UK airport see the Openjet Cheap Flights Alicante weblink right for price comparisons or ring the Iknow Holidays booking line direct for assistance.

Alicante Airport is changing with the times, offering an increasing number of domestic flights within Spain, with top destinations from Alicante in Spain being Barcelona, Madrid and Palma de Mallorca. This makes it easy to consider mixing a beach resort holiday in Alicante with a city break in either Barcelona or Madrid - and why not! Internal Spanish flight prices are more than reasonable.

Before Alicante Airport opened officially to international passengers in 1967, the few passengers braving the trek had to come down from Valencia. Alicante Airport today is a major Spanish tourist airport, well served by facilities including cafes, restaurants, bars, shops and more (see the Alicante Airport weblink right for service details). In 1996 Alicante was extensively refurbished - it needed it as it pushed up towards 9 million passengers annually. Car hire is well served by a choice of Alicante car rental firms based here. See the Holiday Autos weblink right for the best deals in Costa Blanca Alicante Car Rental, or phone the Iknow Holidays booking line direct for assistance. Pre-booking car hire is highly recommended, particularly for car rental in busy Costa Blanca peak summer season.

Cheap Flights to Murcia Airport (San Javier), Cheap Flights to La Manga

If you haven't used Murcia Airport before you might presume it's somewhere near the large town of Murcia. Certainly it's within easy reach of Murcia town, but Murcia Airport sits right on the coast (nearest town San Javier) within easy reach of the popular La Manga Del Mar Menor tourist region.

Murcia Airport is also your best bet if you're holidaying in Torrevieja. Numbers of passengers using Murcia Airport has increased year on year and is now well over the 1 million mark (in 2006 1,646,129 passengers passed through Murcia).

A good choice of budget airlines fly to Murcia Airport from the UK airports including Jet2, Monarch, BMI Baby and Easyjet (see the Cheap Flights Murcia weblink right for price comparisons).

Passenger services obviously aren't as extensive as Alicante Airport, however there's a multi-shop and gift shop on-site, with ample parking, a couple of cafe restaurants and a selection of car hire firms. See the Murcia Airport weblink right for service details.

Cheap Flights Valencia Airport (potential for Gandia, Oliva & Denia)

Valencia Airport sits just 8 km west of Valencia City Centre and is well worth considering if you're holidaying to the north of the Costa Blanca around Gandia, Oliva and Denia.

Valencia Airport offers easy access onto the motorway network, and the AP7 south to the northern Costa Blanca. Combining a city break in Valencia with a Gandia, Denia or Javea beach holiday on the north Coast Blanca coast is easily done.

Nearly half of Valencia Airport's traffic is domestic, with connections particularly to Seville and Madrid. However, Valencia is increasingly being used by tourist visitors and a number of UK budget airlines fly to Valencia including EasyJet, Jet2, Monarch and Ryan Air (see the Cheap Flights Valencia weblink right for flight comparisons).

A choice of car rental firms operate from Valencia Airport and passenger services are excellent. Between 2001 and 2006 passenger numbers using Valencia has more than doubled. Developments in Valencia's cultural tourism and its place as a Spanish business centre have much to do with the airport's growth.
