Playa de Aro, with superb long sandy beach Platja Aro, is the Costa Brava's second largest resort to Lloret de Mar. Superb Costa Brava beach family holidays are on the menu here at Playa de Aro which has a lively nightlife (some say the best on the Costa Brava) and a choice of holiday attractions including the Costa Brava's other big waterpark - Aquadiver Waterworld.
Magic Park, the Costa Brava's big amusement park is here too in Playa de Aro. The combination of quick transfer time from Girona Airport to Platja de Aro, a host of holiday attractions, a stunning easy access long sandy beach perfect for families, great nightlife and inland original Plata de Aro village just 3km from the resort with castle and a Doll Museum make this Costa Brava resort a popular choice.
The quality of tourist facilities and leisure around Platja d'Aro and neighbouring S'Agaro and Castell d'Aro on the Costa Brava is superb. These three centres, all with a different feel, complement each other well. Playa de Aro/Platja d'Aro is the beachfront resort centre with main long sandy beach Platja Gran stretching for 2km, and either side a selection of smaller sandy coves (Cala Rovira beach just to the north of Playa de Aro's main beach is smaller and popular). All of Playa de Aro's beach areas have blue flag status so you can expect quality. Main beach Platja Gran is one of the best beaches for family beach holidays on the Costa Brava. Numerous facilities are here including showers, footbaths, toilets, deck chair and pedal boat hire, boat rides, bars and restaurants, a selection of kids playgrounds and life saving and first aid services in peak summer season.
Platja Gran also has 4 character diving platforms along the beach, plus a host of sports available on the beach including windsurfing, volleyball, beach football and beach badminton. Parking near the beach area is at the southern end around Avinguda Verina Terol.
As well as benefiting from some of the Costa Brava's best tourist attractions such as Aquadiver and Magic World close to hand, Platja D'Aro has a host of other tourist services. Checkout the great shopping, restaurant and hotel choice, renowned nightlife with numerous pubs, discos and bars. Platja d'Aro and S'Agaro (the latter has long been a favourite of the famous) has a number of carnivals and fiestas throughout the year (see the Platja D'Aro tourist webguide right for carnival listings). Novelty entertainment such as the resort's medieval market, beer festival and wine and Cava festival give this Costa Brava resort a real edge! A good one for lively beach family holidays on the Costa Brava. A number of day trip cultural sights and museums are also within easy reach of Plaja d'Aro including nearby Benedormiens Castle and the Dolls Museum (see Platja d'Aro tourist webguide right for details).

Magic Park, the Costa Brava's big amusement park cover 600 square metres and situated in Playa d'Aro, is guaranteed family fun. A number of fun zones sit within this park, covering the full remit of kids interests from indoor tots playground to dare devil fairground rides for older kids. An ice rink, simulators and arcade games, shows and live concerts are all to be found at Magic Park. Checkout Magic Park's weblink right for more info on all of the zones.

Right in the heart of Platja d'Aro sits one of the three waterparks on the Costa Brava (the other two are at Roses and Lloret de Mar). Aquadiver Waterpark Costa Brava at Playa D'Aro is a big one, with a choice of water rides, pools, water play areas for the tots and restaurants and services all on-site. Rapids, Splash Mountain, Kamikazes slide (gulp) and baby pool and free parking are all here at Aquadiver. See the Aquadiver waterworld webguide right for a map of the park and images of the rides.
A free minibus collection service to Aquadiver Waterpark operates from Platja d'Aro, S'Agaro, L'Estartit and elsewhere. Check with your Platja d'Aro accommodation as minibuses can be booked to pick you up direct from your hotel to the waterpark, and they're free!
