Costa del Sol Tourism Guide - Costa Del Sol Golf

You're on Europe's golf coast here on the Costa Del Sol, and all the main Costa Del Sol resorts to the west particularly make superb bases for accessing a host of nearby Costa Del Sol golf courses at Malaga, Mijas and Benalmadena. If you've a car you can push further afield for more Costa Del Sol golf at Estepona, Marbella and Sotogrande too.

Malaga Golf Courses, Costa Del Sol Golf

As capital of Costa del Golf, Malaga certainly sets the tone. Malaga has a superb choice of first class golf courses within its vicinity, with a host more Costa Del Sol Golf courses west around Mijas and Fuengirola. Just to the east of Malaga, Rincon de la Victoria also offers more golf. Just 10 minutes from Malaga city is Parador de Malaga Golf, the oldest golf course in Andalusia, but its changed with the times this Costa Del Sol course and today offers a luxury golf setting. Guadalhorce golf course sits just 7km from Malaga Airport. This one's a 9 hole course, opened in 1990. With its superb location by the sea, midway between Torremolinos and Malaga, Real Club de Campo de Malaga Golf club is one of the most popular golf courses in the area. (see weblink right for details and golf course map detailing all 18 holes). The course is just 10 minutes from Malaga Airport. Mijas Golf Courses & Mijas Golf Holiday Guide

Positioned slightly inland midway between Fuengirola and Mijas Costa, the La Cala Norte y Sur golf resort, offering three golf courses now, promotes itself as one of the most luxurious golf complexes in south Europe. It's certainly one of th biggest golf complexes in Spain. Designed by golf course architect Cabell B. Robinson, the three courses Campo America (previously North Course), Campo Asia and Campo Europa offer all year round golf, the Campo America the most challenging of the three (Par 73). The sublime views of the Sierra de Mijas mountain backdrop make these three golf courses one of the most stunningly located in Europe. The golf result is well equipped with numerous other leisure facilities including spa, plus golf practice facilities, clubhouse and proshop and often is host to competitions. Neraby Los Olivos and Los Lagos golf courses in Mijas offer more scenically located golf. Los Lagos is renowned for its six large lakes and wide fairways. Between Marbella and Mijas sits the popular Miraflores golf course, opened in 1990 and designed by Folco Nardi. Perhaps the most beautifully lcoated golf courses in the Mijas area is Santana Golf (see weblink right for details) - you've views of both the Mediterranean sea and the Mijas mountains from the course. Santana's a challenging course too, 18 holes/Par 72. The setting was once an avacado plantation and you'll notice still a few avacado trees dotted about. Expect quite a few water hazards boosting the challenge, and the finish at the 18th with a long Par-4. See the Santana golf course website right for more details. Marbella Golf Costa Del Sol

Complemented by the superb choice of Costa Del Sol golf at nearby Mijas, Marbella has more golf treats in store. Luxury resort land Nueva is home to many. Starting with one of the best known in the Marbella area, the Aloha Golf Course was designed by one of Spain's best known golf course designers Javier Arana. Aloha golf course actually sits slightly inland from Marbella and Puerto Banus at Nueva, also the location for Las Brisas Golf. (see the Aloha golf weblink right for details directions). Las Brisas golf club, also inland at Nueva (the Nueva area north of Marbella and Puerto Banus is fondly known as 'Golf Valley' to golf fans) contains numerous water obstacles and 10 no less artificial lakes which step up the challenge to this 18 hole Marbella golf course.
