San Pedro De Alcantara, 10 km west of Marbella and 20km east of Estepona, has seen some low key development in recent years, most towards the luxury self catering end. It remains however a quiet Costa Del Sol west resort base. Best as either an all inclusive holiday or base with Costa Del Sol car rental, San Pedro has one of the finest beaches on the Costa Del Sol alongside a stylish palm lined beach avenue, a choice of excellent San Pedro restaurants, an attractive main square and a number of historic sights in and around including the Las Bovedas Roman Baths next to Guadlamina Beach club.

San Pedro De Alcantara's stunning beach location is one of the reasons this Costa Del Sol resort remains quiet. The beach is situated around 1km form the down along pretty Avenida del Mar. A choice of luxury spa and golf hotels are located in the San Pedro and Guadalmina areas to the west of Marbella. Relaxation, peace and quiet, and luxury pampering with a spot of golf are on the menu here.
If you're looking for a luxury end Costa Del Sol all inclusive base, with a pretty town centre offer a selection of shops, a Thursday market, a pretty plaza and some watersports available on the beach then San Pedro makes a good choice. San Pedro also makes for a rather good Costa Del Sol golf holiday base, with nearby Guadalmina Golf Club on its doorstep, flanked by a huge choice of local golf around Estepona and Sotogrande further west, and east around Marbella and Mijas.
Costa Del Sol car rental is recommended however if you're looking to explore the Costa Del Sol and Inland Andalucia further. (see Costa Del Sol Car hire weblink right for online booking).
With Costa Del Sol car rental San Pedro makes for a perfect base - easy to get in and out of, close to the N340 and main AP7 motorway, easy access inland up to beautiful Ronda and the Sierra de Ronda mountain range, close to Gibraltar for day trips, and to top this the beautiful beaches in the San Pedro area, with main San Pedro beach obtaining blue flag status. San Pedro de la Alcantara then is a luxury quiet resort base with superb blue flag beaches which are separated off from the main town. Puerto Banus and Marbella are on your doorstep, but Costa Del Sol car rental is a good idea in this quieter but delightful Spanish resort. San Pedro's beach area is well equipped with a selection of beachside restaurants specialising in seafood.
